Maria Maher Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tuina (Deep Tissue Massage)

B.A. (Hons.), D.B.S., Lic. Ac, Dip. Ac., Cert. Ac. (Nanjing), Dip. Tui Na, Member of A.F.P.A. Professional Register

Acupuncture was a complete career change for me. I had a successful career in a multi-national company when I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. This led to my first experience of acupuncture because my medical team suggested I try it to relieve the negative side effects of the chemotherapy and radiotherapy I was prescribed. Following a course of treatments which worked for me I decided to study acupuncture in Ireland and, subsequently, in China. I then trained in Tui Na (Chinese medical deep tissue massage). I have a general practice treating common conditions such as back pain, sinusitis, anxiety, insomnia and stress. I also have a special interest in fertility and pregnancy and have undertaken numerous post-graduate courses in this area. I have been a Zita West affiliated acupuncturist since her network was founded in Ireland in 2009, and have also trained with other renowned fertility and pregnancy experts, including Jani White, Debra Betts, Dr. Trevor Wing and Sarah Budd. At my clinics in Ranelagh, Athlone and Bray I treat couples who are trying to conceive either naturally or with Assisted Reproductive Therapy (ie: IVF, IUI, etc), ladies who have menstrual issues (ie: endometriosis, PCOS, irregular cycles), as well as women during pregnancy, pre-labour and post-natal mothers. I am also on the Steering Committee of A.C.T. (Acupuncture Childbirth Team) Dublin. I am delighted I made this career change and am still passionate about helping others and improving quality of life for many! For more information check out: www.acuwell.ie or phone: 087 7788591.
